Guild Charter

The following is to be considered as the code of conduct for the Shadow Guardians, holding both rules and information about our guild. They will be updated continuously, as decisions to do so have been taken by the members of the committee during the officer-meetings. Please read these and feel free to ask if there is anything you find unclear. Also feel free to comment on these, although a discussion is likely to take place directly if this would occur - a decision will not be taken before the next officer-meeting.
//Signed on 26.03.2008 by majority vote.

§ 1) General:
1.1) Guild orientation
The main aim is to remain casual & friendly, although this is subject to change according to current wants and needs of the members.

§ 2) Members & Rankings:
2.1) Member allowance
There is no fixed cap on the size, but the guild is determined to remain
a size that ensures that guild chat can remain fun for all.
Also there is no fixed physical age to be let into the guild, but there is a mature guild chat, so a mental maturity is required. As a rule of thumb, an age of 18 is required, although younger members may be
allowed to join under *special* circumstances. If you feel that someone should
be allowed to join but they're under the age limit and you've a very good reason
for them to be invited then consult an officer online for an immediate decision.

If someone you request for invitation disgrases the guild or fails to demonstrate
the mental maturity, the person who made the request will be held responsible.

2.2) Guild rankings & How to get promoted
Current guild ranks:

  • Guild Master
The current leader of the guild. Possesses all the powers of a Guild Master, but no extra power in official voting's and/or decisions.

  • Assistant Guild Master
The second highest rank. Possesses many powers of a Guild Master, but no extra power in official voting's and/or decisions.

  • Officer
A member of the committee. Possesses certain powers, such as invitation rights, and is allowed to vote on guild matters.

  • Veteran
Is a trusted member of the guild that possesses certain privileges.

  • Member
Is the normal rank for your main character in the guild.

  • Alt
Is the normal rank for your secondary character in the guild. Possesses the same privileges as a member.

  • Initiate
Is the first rank you will receive when you join us, and is kept for a certain amount of time. Possesses close to no privileges.

When you join us with your first character you will gain the rank of Initiate. You will remain this rank for a total of five (5) days before an officer can promote you to the rank of member. It is your responsibility to inform a officer when this time has passed, and when you do so the officer in question can either make a sole decision of promoting you, or consult with others. Secondary characters are directly promoted to Alt.

An alt is your secondary character in the guild and possesses the same privileges as your primary character. An secondary character can never advance above the rank of alt. You are free to change which character you wish to have as you main at any time. As of now, you are only allowed a maximum of two (2) characters in the guild at any given time.

When you have been with the guild for a minimum of 45 days the officers can vote to promote you to veteran. It is your responsibility to inform us when this time has passed, and deliberate lying will not be taken lightly. If a majority of the officers agree, you will be promoted to veteran. These voting's are likely to take place during officer-meetings. Veterans possess certain privileges above normal members.

Only veterans can be promoted to the rank of officer. The aim is to keep the number of people in the committee as a fifth of the total number of accounts, i.e. keeping the number of officers at (n/5)-2 where n is the number of members in the guild. When more officers are needed the standing committee will contact candidate veterans to get their approval of becoming a officer. If they accept, the committee will vote and if a majority agrees, the person in question will be promoted to officer. Below is a what the commitee would be looking for from a prospective officer. 1. A friendly and mature and sociable person who actively works to promote a guild culture of inclusiveness and helpfulness. 2. Someone who is in agreement with the aims and culture of the guild as 'social / casual /friendly /fun but when we raid we do it seriously' 3. Somone who is prepared to attend officer meetings either in virtual person or at least be online, allowing that time difference and RL commitments will not always allow attendance. 4.Someone who is online regularly and without large gaps in their online presence unless for specific reasons eg illness, holiday, personal emergency.

Assistant Guild Master can either be chosen by the Guild Master, or by a majority vote of the current officers - of which the latter can overrule the former. The assistant Guild Master has to be chosen from the current officers, and can be changed without their own approval at any time by a majority vote of the current officers, although not by the Guild Master alone.

Guild Master can only be chosen by a vote where the person in question recives the 3/4 support of the standing committee - not taking into account the current Guild Master.

2.3) How can I get kicked from the guild?
If an officer sees (or is reliably informed of) you performing an action that
does not match the guild ethos then you will be kicked.
If you do not log on for a month you will be removed from the guild. This can
be extended by informing the guild (ideally an officer) that you'll be absent.

§ 3) Officer meetings
3.1) Purpose
To vote & decide on matters concerning the guild. A majority vote is needed for a decision to take place. This means that at an officer meeting where less then half of the committee is not present - no decisions can be made. Pre-discussions are to take place in officer chat or using the mailing list.

3.2) Time & place
As and when required. There is no set time or day. A meeting can be called to discuss matters as they arise.

3.3) Agenda
Matters that should be discussed each officer-meeting are:
Veterans, Officers, CoC and urgent matters.

§ 4) Guild Bank
4.1) Purpose
To allow a common guild economy and to fund guild events etc.

4.2) What should be stored in the bank and what can I take out?
You can store more or less anything in the bank - although be careful not to fill the bank completely. Pre-TBC to be put in tab#1, Post-TBC in tab#2, Glyphs and Scrolls in tab#3, at a charge of 1gold, and more expensive items such as potions, buff foods and gems from WotLK in tab#4. To take something out from tab#4 you will have to contact an officer who, if you are considered to be in need of the item in question, will take it out and give it to you, at a charge og 30gold.
Items will be kept in the bank for about 1-2 weeks before they are sold, and the proceeds are put back into the bank. If you take something out of the bank you are not required to put something back in, although if you misuse the guild bank, you will be warned and/or kicked/banned.
